How far is Playa del Carmen from Cancun?

Playa del Carmen is a 45 minute drive from Cancun. The highway is newly paved and well maintained. It is easy to get from Cancun to Playa del Carmen because there is just one major road headed south along the coast, the Cancun-Tulum Highway.

You can rent a car at the Cancun Airport, take a bus to Playa del Carmen, or MM Rentals and Realty can arrange an airport transfer for you from Cancun directly to your vacation rental.

Where can I get groceries?

You can stock up on groceries for your rental villa at several big grocery stores . We recommend Walmart and Mega , both on 30th avenue.They also have a discount pharmacy if you need any prescriptions filled.

MM Rentals and Realty also offers shopping or personal chef services for an extra fee, so you don't need to worry about dinner at all!

What is Playacar?

Playacar is a private neighborhood located on the southern side of Playa del Carmen. Playacar is an upscale gated community that is connected to Playa del Carmen near the main plaza.

Should I bring pesos from home?

Visitors to Playa del Carmen can just bring money in their own (major) currency or travelers checks. It is easy to exchange most major currencies at the many banks and money exchanges in Playa del Carmen. Banks also have ATM machines where you can get pesos using your bank ATM card. The dollar to peso exchange rate is usually better in a Mexican bank than at your bank at home.

What if I am bringing my children?

There are hundreds of ways for kids to enjoy Playa del Carmen - snorkeling, swimming, jungle tours, Xcaret eco-park, interactive dolphin experiences and more! Mexico's Riviera Maya is a safe, fun place to be a kid. (You can see the Cancun South Travel Guide for more details).

MM Rentals and Realty has cribs to rent ($50 a week) and can arrange babysitting services if you want a romantic dinner out or a night on the town.

What if something breaks?

Our full-time professional staff is on call 24-hours a day should anything go wrong with your rental house or condo.
